Parmeliella coerulescens Müll. Arg.

  Thallus squamulose or minutely foliose. Squamules 1–3 mm wide, loosely attached; margins incised becoming minutely lobate-subimbricate, ascending. Lobes ±lacerate. Upper surface smooth, matt, without soredia, isidia or pruina. Lower surface with a slight pale or whitish tomentum, often bluish at margins but without rhizohyphae. Apothecia to 1 mm wide, relatively large for size of thallus; disc flat to convex, red–brown; thalline exciple absent; proper exciple narrow, persistent or sometimes excluded at maturity, pale flesh–coloured. Ascospores 10–12 × 7–8 µm.
     
  Endemic in Qld, N.S.W. and Vic. Occurs on mossy twigs and branches in lowland rainforest.
